Chronic Pain Relief: Re-Train Your Brain

Date: Fall 2013, Date TBD
Instructor: Sarah Warren, CSE
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: Brookline Adult & Community Education, Brookline High School, Brookline, MA

In this movement workshop we’ll address the underlying cause of chronic muscle pain. Clinical Somatic Education is a neuromuscular re-education technique, which releases chronic muscle tension and pain by working with the brain. Most musculoskeletal pain is caused by habitual muscle tension that has been built up or “learned” over many years. We will discuss common issues and basic neurophysiology, and practice gentle, non-aerobic exercises on the floor that you can do at home to stay pain-free. After the class you will feel extremely relaxed as if you just had a massage. Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing and bring an exercise mat or blanket.
